Steel studs, like other hollow sections, are made of C or U-shaped rolled steel plates. This type of steel profile consists of a wide “John” and two “wings”. Its wings can be parallel or conical. It is a profile gutter with a steel cross-section made of carbon steel billets.

Its cross-sectional shape consists of a horizontal section and two vertical wings in the shape of the English letter U, which has a curved section in the inner corners. This profile is placed in the group of open profiles. This profile is widely used in industrial and construction purposes. The manufactured studs have 3 modes: press, which give it the desired shape by means of a press. From the very beginning of the production process, the fabric leaves the production line and is divided into hot rolling and cold rolling.

Application of Gutter

Steel stud is one of the most popular steel profiles in construction. Apart from this, C and U type are also used in our daily life like stair beam. However, because the beam’s bending axis is not centered over the span of the wings, the steel-type structure is not as strong as an I-beam or wide-wing beam. Some of their uses are as follows:

Support for building corners, walls and fences, protective edge for walls
Construction of load-bearing bridges, construction of strong shelves
Light steel structures, use in the framework
Machinery, marine organizations

Types of Gutter

The steel type is classified into two types “C” and “U” in terms of appearance. Hence, there are two standards to indicate gutter dimensions, UPE and UPN. The UPE is for the C-shaped steel model with parallel wings. While UPN is for U-shaped steel model with conical wings
